Don't accidentally live your life on pause
Where are you telling yourself…
“When _____, then I'll ______.”
When I get into a relationship, then I’ll move into a better apartment.
When I quit my job, then I’ll figure out what my passion is.
When I move to a new city, then I’ll make new friends.
When I get through this week, then I’ll feel better.
“When ____, then ____” thinking is a surefire way to live your life on pause.
Always in transition. Always in limbo.
Always WAITING to for your real life to begin.
I don’t want you to do that.
Because your life isn’t on pause.
Your real life is happening right now in front of you.
So every time your brain gives you some “When _____, then ____” thinking...
Stop and ask yourself:
How can I do that right now?
Your brain may tell you it’s impossible.
And I want you tell it in response: “Okay, but first we have to PROVE it.”
Test it out. Try a bunch of ways and avenues and experiments. PROVE it impossible.
Once the data and your experience show that it’s not possible now, THEN you can wait.
That’s strategic waiting — with conviction and certainty that now is not the right time and a plan for when and how to get started.
I’m all for waiting when it’s a thoughtful, strategic choice.
What I don’t want for you is the eternal limbo of “soon things will be better” and “I’m just one thing away from unlocking the life I want.”
That kind of waiting is NOT a strategic choice — that’s waiting as a default way of life.
Because the real question you have to answer when you’re building the life you want is NOT:
How do I just get through this current period until conditions are finally right and I can have what I want?
Don’t work on that question. That’s not a fruitful line of inquiry.
Instead work on this question:
How can I have the life I want NOW? Right where I am? In my current conditions? Today?
Answering this question requires more creative problem-solving then just getting through the day.
But SO, SO often, when you really take a look at the things you want…
You don't have to wait at all.
Your real life can start right now.
And at the same time, I recognize…
You’re working a full-time job. You have people in your life who need you. You may not have hours of time to dedicate every week to reflection, introspection, experimentation, and problem-solving.
And that doesn’t have to be a problem.
Because that’s where you can bring in a coach.
You don’t have to figure this out by yourself.
You can make steady, consistent progress in a matter of weeks (not years) by gifting yourself the structure, accountability, and expertise that a coach brings.
Get started on your own. (No “When I hire a coach, then I’ll start making progress”!)
And when you want to super-charge your progress, break through your stuck points, and get this done…
Come talk to me, and let’s put this thing on turbo :)
What my clients have to say…
“What I liked about Pooja’s approach was that she tackled everything at the same time and she provided practical goals, which were really instrumental in changing my thinking.
I had always been a very intellectual person struggling with the practical stuff. And what I liked about her approach was that she gave me practical goals on a weekly basis.”
