How to Do Something You Don't Want to Do
What’s that thing on your list that you just don’t want to do?
Going to the gym? Doing your taxes? Getting started with work at all?
Now, how do you think you need to feel in order to do that thing?
Many people think they need to feel motivated.
Well, let me tell you — motivated is a high-intensity emotion.
And if you’re sitting over here in “I don’t want to do it” land — motivated is a stretch.
You don’t need to generate motivation.
You need to set a more doable target emotion.
What would you need to think to feel willing to do that thing?
To feel open to doing that thing?
To feel able to take one step toward doing that thing?
Answer that question.
Generate THAT emotion.
And get to work.
PS: This is just one trick, of many, that I teach my clients to help them get things done and feel good while doing it.
Stop pushing yourself all day long and ending each day exhausted. You have so many more options than "give up" or "power through."
Come talk to me and let me teach you how to get more done AND feel better than ever while doing it.
