Let's Change How You Think About "Failure"
What do you think about the following examples?
You’re trying to eat healthy. You overeat at restaurants five times. The sixth time, you eat what you planned and don’t overeat.
You’re working on a problem at work. For five days, you spend an hour on it and don’t make any progress. On the sixth day, you crack it and know exactly what to do.
You’re perfecting your morning routine. For five weeks, you run late every day. On the sixth week, you nail it perfectly.
Basically, you have a sequence: ❌ ❌ ❌ ❌ ❌ ✅
This sequence is neutral.
It doesn’t mean anything until you GIVE IT a meaning.
So what meaning do you give it?
Most people look at this sequence and see: I failed 5 tests and passed 1.
This interpretation feels BAD.
When you think about failure in this way, it makes you beat yourself up when you fail and avoid starting things you MIGHT fail at so you can avoid your own mental beatdown.
This is another example of outdated Student Mentality that is no longer serving you here in the real world.
Let me offer you an alternate perspective.
You are not the five experiments that failed. You are the scientist running experiments until they find the one that works.
You are not the five dead-ends you discovered. You are the general running recon to find the path through the forest.
You are not the five missed KPIs. You are the CEO running the process to improve all the metrics.
So for that thing you’re trying to get better at…
Or the thing you’re building up the courage to even start…
You are not the bad outcome on any given day. There is no test that you failed.
You are the scientist / general / CEO managing the overall PROCESS.
A bad outcome is interesting.
A bad outcome is one more thing to cross off the list.
A bad outcome is a learning to incorporate for next time.
So when you find yourself wilting at the thought of messing things up, or struggling your way through…
Stop, step back, and remember who you are.
PS: And here’s what I want you to do next: Notice how well this works. Do you get the results that you want? Are you feeling better, and getting things done?
If not, nothing has gone wrong. All that means is that there are more thoughts we need to uncover that are blocking you from getting things done.
That’s very normal. You have not just ONE thought but a whole network of beliefs that is creating the results you have today.
We need to tease them out and change them one by one in order to create the life you want.
You can do this work on your own. It’s not impossible — just slower and harder.
Or you can do it with the guidance of an expert, the benefit of a structured process, and the gift of dedicated time.
Ready to invest in the life you actually want? Then come talk to me and let’s get started.
