Let's try something different
Here’s an interesting pattern I’ve noticed among my clients:
Some people habitually INTERNALIZE blame.
And some people habitually EXTERNALIZE blame.
Some people, when something goes wrong, the first place their brain goes is: It was MY fault.
And some people, when something goes wrong, the first place their brain goes is: It was THEIR fault.
Neither approach is right or wrong.
I’m not saying you should do one or that you shouldn’t do the other.
I’m just saying that the chances are very high that you almost always do one and that you almost never do the other.
So today, I want you to try something different.
If you’re someone who always blames YOURSELF when things go wrong…
Just for today, I want you to ask yourself this question:
If this wasn’t a Me Problem, what would it be? What ELSE could be causing this?
And if you’re someone who always blames OTHERS when things go wrong…
Just for today, I want you to ask yourself this question:
If this wasn’t a Them Problem, what would it be? How am *I* creating this?
I want you to do this 5 times.
Get 5 reps, across different types of situations, asking yourself the opposite question that you usually ask yourself.
And then write to me and tell me how asking a different question changed things for you.
Or even better — come tell me about it.
