No amount of rest will fix a life that’s not in alignment
If you are afraid of resting…
Because you’re afraid that once you start resting, you’ll never stop resting.
You don’t have a laziness problem.
You have a misalignment problem.
Living in misalignment feels like holding your hand on a hot stove.
One part of you is saying, “Keep your hand on the stove!”
The other part of you is saying, “Ouch! This hurts! I want to stop!”
And it’s a constant internal battle between those two parts of you.
You know what doesn’t solve a hand-on-hot-stove problem?
Taking longer breaks between the times when you put your hand on the hot stove.
Going on vacation between the times when you put your hand on the hot stove.
Taking a sabbatical to do a six-week wellness retreat in Bali…before you come back and put your hand back on the hot stove.
You know what does solve a hand-on-hot-stove problem?
Turning the flame down on the stove.
Putting a glove on your hand, so the stove doesn’t burn you.
Doing something else with your hands, instead of putting them on the stove.
In essence, what solves a hand-on-hot-stove problem…
Is staying with the problem and making adjustments until it’s solved.
Not optimizing and problem-solving what you do in the times when your hand isn’t on the stove.
Coaching helps you bring your life back into alignment.
Coaching helps you build a life and a career that you don’t have to escape from.
This doesn’t require a miracle.
Or winning the lottery.
Or achieving monk-like spiritual enlightenment.
All it requires is a conversation.
We talk to the part of you that’s saying, “I have to keep my hand on the stove!”
We hear it out. It probably has some good points.
We also talk to the part of you that’s saying, “Ouch! This hurts! I want to stop!”
We hear it out. It probably has some good points too!
We examine both of their perspectives.
They’re probably both a little right and a little wrong.
We keep what’s right. We toss what’s wrong.
And we build a third way forward that keeps all the parts of you happy.
That’s what alignment feels like.
It feels like every part of you is happy and taken care of.
And when all the parts of you are in alignment…
Nothing is stopping you anymore from shooting forward like a rocket ship 🚀
Now, weirdly, talking to yourself is not as easy as it seems.
Your Automatic Brain moves really, really fast.
Which means that your own internal conversations can quickly end up in a tangled gridlock.
Or turn into a mudslinging judgment-fest.
Or end with both parties sitting in a corner, sulking and not talking to each other.
It really, really helps to bring a coach into this conversation.
A coach slows down the conversation.
They help you listen to each side without interrupting and without judgment.
They help you sift and find the wisdom in each side’s perspective.
And they help you craft the way forward that works for everyone.
Think of a coach as a couples counselor for all the different parts of you :)
Come talk to me and get a taste of how this works.
You can drop by anytime for a no-strings-attached coffee chat ☕️
It’s not a sales pitch.
It’s just an opportunity for us to discuss whatever’s on your mind…
And I’ll offer some one-off coaching and brainstorming about your situation.
Or you can book a consult call, and we can map out a full coaching engagement.
So you can get the hang of being the moderator of your own internal voices.
And learn how to find alignment and find flow every day, no matter what’s going on around you.
What my clients have to say…
“The benefits didn't just impact me.
They impacted my teams at work and my family at home.
And that's pretty much all you can ask for.”

I help high achievers build their careers around flow.
This requires…
Internally, learning how to access your flow no matter what’s going on around you
Externally, designing a career strategy that angles your flow at a high-priority problem that someone will pay you good money to solve
Tactically, navigating the transition from where you are right now to where you want to be
Today’s article focused on #1.
