Something feels off. But is it Type 1 Wrongness or Type 2 Wrongness?
One is signal, and the other is noise.
Many high achievers come to me when something just feels off about their career and their life, and they can’t quite put their finger on what it is, or how to fix it.
And when you’re trying to diagnose what’s off…
It’s helpful to distinguish between Type 1 Wrongness vs. Type 2 Wrongness.
Type 1 Wrongness is when everything looks good from the outside…
But something feels wrong on the inside.
That next career step makes so much sense on paper…
But something in you just doesn’t want to take it.
That person is great, and there’s no reason not to see them again…
But something in you doesn’t want to go on another date with them.
You’re posting beautiful Instagram pics from your vacation…
But you’re not having nearly as much fun as it looks like you’re having.
Type 2 Wrongness is when things look off from the outside…
But it feels RIGHT on the inside.
Your next career step makes people go, “huh?”…
But something in you says this is right next step.
People assume you must be lonely as a single person since everyone else is getting engaged and having babies…
But you’re feeling better than you’ve ever felt.
Your Instagram updates aren’t glamorous or well curated…
But the life you’re living is full and fun.
Both types of wrongness will make you feel “off.”
But one is signal, and the other is noise.
Type 1 Wrongness is signal — everything looks right on the outside, but something inside you knows something needs to change. Listen to it.
Type 2 Wrongness is noise — you know you’re doing what works best for you. Your brain is just getting distracted by keeping up with the Jonses. Ignore it.
Most high achievers have a very high tolerance for Type 1 Wrongness.
They are very good at ignoring their internal signals and keeping on pushing towards the end goal they set for themselves.
(Or more likely — that someone else set for them.)
And most high achievers have a very low tolerance for Type 2 Wrongness.
It’s hard for them to trust themselves and keep the faith in their own internal signals…
When the external world tells them they’re wrong.
I want you to swap that around.
Because having a LOW tolerance for stuff that feels wrong on the inside, even if it looks great from the outside…
And having a HIGH tolerance for “other people not getting it,” when it feels right to you…
Is the only way to build your career around flow and create the life you actually want.
And if you’re not sure which type of wrongness you’re feeling…
Or how to extract the signal from Type 1 Wrongness…
Or tune out the noise from Type 2 Wrongness…

What my clients have to say…
“I would in particular recommend Pooja to this specific phenotype of high achievers.
We put a lot of pressure on ourselves and the outside world might never understand that our lives are not as perfect as they seem, or that we struggle as much as we do.
I think that phenotype in particular, would benefit a ton from working with Pooja specifically.”

I help high achievers build their careers around flow.
This requires…
Internally, learning how to access your flow no matter what’s going on around you
Externally, designing a career strategy that angles your flow at a high-priority problem that someone will pay you good money to solve
Tactically, navigating the transition from where you are right now to where you want to be
Today’s article focused on #1.
