The hard part about a job search isn’t the tactics. It’s the emotions.
The hard part about a job search isn’t the tactics.
Updating your resume.
Searching for job posts on LinkedIn.
Reaching out to people in your network.
Going to conferences and networking events.
Evaluating potential opportunities.
None of these things are rocket science.
The hard part about a job search is the emotions.
Having conviction that now is the right time to make a move.
Gaining clarity on what you want to do next.
Maintaining hope and possibility that your A+ next step is out there (and not pre-emptively looking for B+ roles because you don’t think the A+ role exists).
Having the confidence and tolerance for awkwardness that’s required to reach out to people you haven’t talked to in a while and tell them you’re looking for roles.
Having the playfulness and creativity to roll with the punches when an interviewer asks you a tough question.
Having the courage and internal security to hear a mentor’s strongly worded advice, decide what parts of it you agree with, and confidently discard what you disagree with.
Having the agency and sense of control that you can make your next role into the best one yet, even in the face of challenges and unknowns and stretch opportunities.
Luckily, I specialize in the emotions :)
You are a smart, driven, hardworking person who is really freaking good at executing plans.
And if you’re finding yourself stuck, it’s not because you’ve suddenly turned into a lazy, ambition-less, directionless blob.
You’re stuck because you’ve run into a mental and emotional block that you’re not sure how to work through.
That’s what we do in coaching.
And once you’ve got your beliefs and emotions locked in…
The tactics are easy :)
So come talk to me, and let’s map out the plan – mental and tactical – for your job search today.
What my clients have to say…
“I felt like every Monday, regardless of what happened that week, I had someone who had my back and would help me gently course correct.
Pooja would always help me push off my week to a great start so that I wouldn't lose out on the progress I had made or forget about all the good things I was doing.
To kick start my week like that felt like a superpower."
