You are 3 small, messy reps away.
What do you really, really wish you could do…
…but you just can’t seem to do it?
Go to social events alone?
Speak up for your needs instead of staying silent?
Publish your writing online?
Lift weights?
Whatever the thing is…
You are 3 small, messy reps away from breaking through your barrier.
Do NOT make it perfect.
Do NOT set out to do it forever.
Just get 3 small, messy, garbage reps.
Do it scared.
Do it wobbly.
Do it incredibly imperfectly.
Go to a social event alone, and turn around and leave after 5 minutes when it gets awkward.
Speak up for what you want with a trembling voice and no plan for what you’re going to say.
Post 2 sentences online.
Go to the gym and do 5 bicep curls.
I know I’m always talking about changing your thoughts & feelings…
But you don’t need your thoughts and feelings to be 100% perfect before you take action.
You just need them to be good enough to start taking some messy, wobbly action.
And the smaller, messier, and more doable the action…the LESS work you need to do on your thoughts & feelings before you can do it.
Because here’s the magic thing about taking action…
It changes your thoughts & feelings.
Your brain uses your past actions to maintain a coherent story of who you are.
And when you do something that’s contradictory to that, you mess up the story.
And your brain has no option but to update its idea of who you are and what you’re capable of.
So go get your 3 messy reps.
And tell me who you become.
