You are an emotional athlete.
I want you to look at your to-do list right now.
Looking at all the items on that list…
You can appreciate the mental effort it will take to get those things done.
You have to focus and think hard for long stretches of time.
You have to be creative, think outside the box, and tackle difficult problems that don’t have clear solutions.
You have to reference all your previous experience and expertise and figure out how it applies to the current situation.
You have to learn fast and make decisions with incomplete information.
You can probably even appreciate the physical effort it will take to get those things done.
All that mental work takes real physical energy.
You have to be well-rested to do all this work.
Getting up and moving around will help your brain move faster or see things from a new perspective.
Regular exercise can be key to giving you more energy and a better mood to tackle everything on the list.
But here’s the thing you’re probably not appreciating—
The emotional effort it will take to get those things done.
Because as you tackle every item on your list…
You have to come face-to-face with your fear of failure.
You have to listen to that voice in your head saying, “What if you can’t do it?” and keep working even as it nags you.
You have to dodge your inner critic while it tries to hit you with its “You’re doing it wrong!” dodgeball.
You have to stare down the sheer cliffside drop of making other people upset.
You have to go through the ninja warrior obstacle course of doing things you don’t know how to do.
This is not a leisurely walk in the park.
This is the emotional equivalent of an Olympic triathlon.
When you don’t account for the emotional effort it takes to do everything you want to do…
You can feel like you’re crazy, lazy, or weak for not being able to do more.
You tell yourself things like…
“Why can’t I just do it?”
“It’s just an email, why am I getting so stressed out about it?”
“I barely did anything today - why am I so tired?”
But you’re not lazy or slow or overreacting to small things.
You just haven’t accounted for the emotional athleticism it takes to be able to do everything you want to do.
Luckily, you can grow your emotional strength in the same way you can grow your physical or mental strength.
All it takes are two ingredients: Guidance + Reps.
You have mentors and schools and training programs to help you grow your mental strength.
You have gyms and trainers and workout videos to help you grow your physical strength.
My course & coaching program helps you grow your emotional strength.
It gives you the guidance, structure, and reps you need to build your emotional muscles…
…so you can achieve the big things you want to achieve and build the big life you were meant to build.
Come talk to me learn all about it.
What my clients have to say…
“I’ve gained the ability to notice when I'm in the more negative thought patterns and to recognize that no amount of bullying myself is going to result in the change I want.
I’ve been able to build a more positive, affirming, confidence-building narrative about myself and spend just as much time looking for evidence that I spend time exactly how I should and that I'm already fully capable, rather than just looking at the negative.”
