You're not confused. You're walking the Thought Maze.
If you’re trying to make a decision right now…
And you’re feeling really overwhelmed…
You feel like your brain is turning over all the possibilities...
What if we do A? What if we do B? What if we do hybrid combo A/B? And how does that affect factor C?
And you’re just spinning and spinning…
I want to give you a concept that might make you feel a little better.
This concept is called “walking the Thought Maze.”
This is something I heard from a venture capitalist on a podcast (I can’t remember which or who, unfortunately).
And they talk about how they want founders who have walked the Thought Maze.
When a VC hears an idea for a startup, they often start throwing random questions at them.
“What if you targeted businesses instead of consumers?”
“What if you went low-end instead of high-end?”
“What if you offered a subscription rather than a one-time fee?”
And this investor was saying: He can really tell when someone has walked the Thought Maze for their idea.
Which is: They’ve actually considered all the different permutations and combinations and what-ifs for the product
If you imagine the massive decision tree that happens when you ask all those questions…
This founder has actually walked every inch of that decision tree and thought through every piece of it.
So when the VC fires those random questions at them, they’re able to say…
“Nope, we’re targeting consumers instead of businesses for this reason.”
“No, we considered going high-end but we’re going low-end because of this.”
“We thought about subscription, but a one-time fee makes more sense because of that.”
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed as you consider all the permutations and combinations and what-ifs for the decision that you’re trying to make...
Maybe you’re not overwhelmed.
Maybe you’re not spinning.
Maybe you’re not confused.
Maybe nothing is going wrong.
Maybe you’re just walking the Thought Maze.
And all you need to do is keep on walking.
Sometimes, a coach helps you figure out what’s going wrong and how to fix it.
And sometimes, a coach helps you realize nothing is going wrong, and all you need to do is keep on going.
Both are equally important.
Your brain is a problem-finding machine. (This is a good thing!)
And as you work through the queue of problems your brain has identified…
You want to solve REAL problems quickly and effectively.
AND you want to identify “false problems” as “not a problem at all” quickly and effectively.
And then STOP trying to solve them.
Because nothing will make you feel more stuck than grinding your gears trying to solve a problem…
…that actually isn’t a problem at all.
So if you’re feeling stuck right now, let’s talk.
What my clients have to say…
“I love when Pooja drops wisdom. It’s always, like, a five word sentence that I’ll write down in my journal and refer back to.
It’s like sometimes you’ll read a whole book just to get that one sentence.
And it’s kind of like having this encyclopedic friend who’s just like, ‘You said all this stuff. Don’t read that book. Let me just tell you the five words.’
And it’s really incredible.”
