How to ACTUALLY Change How You Think
Here’s a question I often get on coaching consults (and it’s a great question!):
Pooja, I totally agree that my habitual thought patterns are the root cause of my problems.
I know that my self-criticism, my imposter syndrome, my tendency to focus on the negative and ignore the positive — they’re all thought habits that are holding me back from getting what I want!
But how do I ACTUALLY change the way that I think?
I’ve tried to before, and it’s never worked! Is it even possible??
If you’re on a coaching consult with me, here’s what I’ll tell you:
This is exactly why you need to hire a coach!
You can change your thought habits just as much as you can change your physical habits.
It’s a matter of…
Identifying what you’re thinking now
Building up a new thought that’s doable and believable (not a total stretch)
Making a plan for how and when you will implement that new thought during the week
Reviewing, troubleshooting, and adjusting in the next coaching session. The plan may work beautifully, or it may crash and burn. Either way, YOU will gain the learnings and make an even better plan for the following week.
You can definitely do all this on your own.
The benefit of hiring a coach is that you will go through this cycle consistently every week in a structured, predictable manner…
No discipline or willpower needed. Just show up to the coaching call, and the work is done for you.
And you will have the benefit of an expert guiding you every step of the way. No need to reinvent the wheel or re-derive principles that others have already figured out.
With a coach’s training and experience at your fingertips, you can spend all your time implementing things that work and very little time feeling lost and wondering where to start.
If you’re ready to put some real structure, consistency, and expertise into solving your problems and creating the life you actually want, then come talk to me, and let’s get started!
And until then, don’t forget that I’ve already written about 7 tangible, tactical ways that you can change the way you think, starting today.
Put the new belief in your mental filter and find evidence everywhere
Find things in your life that are going RIGHT and use them as reference points
Find the most damning piece of evidence and rewrite the story
And remember to treat your brain like a friend and trusted partner (not like an idiot or an inconvenience) every step of the way.
